What is Kimoji?
Kimoji Version 3.1.0 is the official Kim Kardashian West Emoji App available on iPhone and Android devices for $1.99. This emoji app is compatible for iPhone 5S and above and requires iOS 8.2 or later. In-App Purchases are also included.
The Kimoji app was announced in late 2015. It quickly rose to the top of the paid apps list on iTunes. If you are a fan of Kim Kardashian, you will probably like this. It features over 500+ Kim Kardashian emoji, stickers and GIFs to send to friends and post on social media. Unfortunately, the app comes with a myriad of issues, and the rating and reviews of the app show that is the case.
It works with all messaging applications where the copying and pasting of images and GIFs is supported. There is also a built in QWERTY keyboard you can use in addition to the Kim Kardashian emoji and stickers. Once you install the Kimoji keyboard you will have to give it full access in order to use it. This made a good amount of users frustrated about what information this integrated keyboard can see. After you have given it full access you can still use the standard keyboard to type your sensitive information and it will not know what you are typing in case you are worried.
If you are a parent, please note that this emoji app includes things like Kim in a swimsuit, crying Kim, Kim’s butt and much more. This means that the Kimoji app is restricted to users 17 and up due to: Frequent/Intense Sexual Content or Nudity, Infrequent/Mild Mature/Suggestive Themes, Infrequent/Mild Alcohol, Tobacco, or Drug Use or References, and Infrequent/Mild Profanity or Crude Humor.
So, if you are a parent keep this in mind before letting your children buy this app. Another thing to keep in mind is that this app includes In-App Purchases.
The In-App Purchases the app contains is one pack containing lots of Kimojis called the SUMMER KIMOJI. It is available for $0.99 and contains 160 new Kimojis and 22 GIFs.
Now, if you take a look at the reviews on the stores you will see that it’s not very good, at all. This is because the users are frustrated with the keyboard access, crashing and various other issues.
One of the users that left a review say that the app asks for full access and you can’t use it if you do not give it full access. The review also says that the app says it will not store any information you type but upon clicking full access it states that all information will be saved, including things such as credit card information, which is rather creepy. Users have also reported that the kimojis are too big.
If you happen to use Android devices as well you will be disappointed that it’s even worse there. Besides all the issues the iOS version also has, the Android version features less Kim Kardashian emojis. It is stated that the Android version features 400+ emojis and GIFs, which is 100 less than on iOS. Despite the Android version featuring less content, it still has the same $1.99 price tag as the iOS version.
Here we will try and help out with one of the issues the app has. One of the biggest and most common problems this app has is when you leave an app you are using and come back to Kimoji the Kimoji stickers, emoji & icons just disappear. Restarting your iPhone isn’t the way to fix this issue, here is how: Go to Settings – General – Keyboards – Kimoji – Allow Full Access Off. Turn it back on again and the missing Kimoji stickers, emoji & icons should now be fixed.
If you can get past all the issues the app has you will find that you can send Kimoji to anyone you want, even to those that do not have the Kimoji app. They do not need to have the Kimoji app to be able to see the emoji you send them. Kimoji also works in iMessage, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, email and various other apps.
What’s new in version 3.1.0
Version 3.1.0 brings us these new things:
- KIMOJI MERCH: The Kimoji Merch is now here and available in the app. You should make sure to accept push notifications so you can get access to new and exclusive items as they are released.
- A 4th of July KIMOJI is now available as part of the $0.99 Kanye and North add-on pack.
Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any bug fixes to all the problems.
